Guide to Fitting a FCD (Fuel Cut Defended)

We start with a HKS FCD. (4 wire) Purchased from Whizbits.

The first step is to locate the ECU. Which is under the passenger footwell carpet.

Pull the carpet back and it will reveal a large black plastic cover, held on by two 10mm bolts.

Undo and remove the bolts, I used a socket set for ease

Pull the cover off and this will reveal two ECU’s.

The one on the left is the ABS ECU, and the one on the right is the Main ECU. (This is the one you want.)
Pull the plug out, second from the left.

Locate the wire, second row down, second plug from the left, with colour code Light Green with Black Trace.

Cut the wire.

And strip the ends.

Get two lengths of wire and strip the ends.
Solder the lengths to the ECU wires and wrap them with insulation tape.

It’s better to use two different colours of wire as you need to know which wire is the loom side and which is the ECU side. (I’ve used the same colour wire, but I marked one of the wires with tape.) You need to know which is the loom side, and which is the ECU side.

Plug the plug back in.

You can connect the Red and Black wires from the FCD to the ECU to power it, but i prefer to source the power from a different location. (The less you mess with the ECU the better.)

If you want to use the ECU as the power source, use the connections below. E (earth), B+ (positive)

Tidy the wiring up. I've used zip ties and cut the ends off.

Replace the cover, and screww the nuts back on.

I extended the power wire on the FCD, as i'm going to use a source from the other side of the dash.

Connect the wires from the ECU to the FCD, Remember the wires in to be connected the right way.

White to the loom side, and yellow to the ECU side. (I marked the ECU side of my wires)

I threaded the power wires under the center of the dash and behind the Radio.

You can use the Radio power supply to power your FCD. (see below) or the Cigarette Lighter supply.

I already have a power suppy to my Speed Camera Detector under the drivers side dash.

Put the FCD where you want to mount it.

Attach the sticky pad.

Stick the FCD on, and make sure it's secure.

Took the wiring under the carpet.

Put the carpet back.

Now you need to set it up.

Start on the lowest setting. (Normal)

Set your boost if you upping it.

Floor you car off.

If it hit hits the cut limit, turn the FCD one click towards Cut.

Repeat until you get no cut.
For saftey, turn it one back to you get cut again, then turn it back up again. Just to make sure the cut is just above the boost you run, so if threre are any spikes or problems, it will cut in straight away and not blow anything up.

This works the same for a VVTi Soarer 1JZ, except the wire will be blue not green. Thank you.

... Hated the fuel cut.
